House / Cabin in Hocking Hills
My family and I really liked this cabin in Hocking Hills, Ohio. It is technically in Rockbridge, Ohio, but it is still in the heart of Hocking Hills State Park. It was a very short drive to all of the trails we did.
There is only one thing we didn’t like about this cabin — the neighbor. Aside from him, this cabin was perfect! I recommend this cabin to anyone coming the area. Just don’t drive past the cabin, which you won’t have to.

The House
My family and I wanted a cabin close to the trails. There was six of us so it needed to be a big cabin and we wanted a hot tub.
We found this cabin in Hocking Hills, Ohio and it seemed like a great choice for us. It’s called the Wildcat Cottage, and we were happy with it. The cabin has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. We really liked the idea of the half bathroom being downstairs. It was near one of the patio doors, so it is perfect for when you get out of the hot tub.
I was also impressed by how spacious the cabin is. There are essentially two living rooms (only one has a tv), a large dining area, and a kitchen all downstairs. One of the living rooms has patio doors that lead out onto the deck. The deck is big too. Aside from the hot tub, there are also chairs and a table to eat outside.
Bring your smores supplies! She has an awesome sit up in the yard for a fire. There is a metal tin for the fire surrounded by tree stumps to sit on. Even though your in the yard you really do feel like your out in the woods.
Location
The house is right in the middle of Hocking Hills. It’s a short drive to all the trails. Some of the ones we did were Old Mans Cave and the Rock House. It was only like a ten minute drive to them.
You do have to drive on a one lane gravel road to get here. Service is extremely spotty, so be sure to load the GPS before you lose service. The cabin can be kind of hard to find, but the wildcat cottage sign is at the end of the driveway. Unfortunately, the host doesn’t have the house number on that sign.
The Neighbor
The neighbor was the only thing we didn’t like about the cabin. As I said, you have to drive on a one lane gravel road to get here and service is very spotty — in fact, I didn’t have service at all. I had already loaded the GPS so there was a pin on our cabin.
Unfortunately, I passed our cabin up. The pin on my GPS looked like it was a little farther down the road than it actually was. The sign at the bottom of the driveway for this cabin didn’t have a house number on it. So, that is how I passed it.
Once I passed it I could tell by looking at the GPS that I passed it. I was afraid if I kept going down that road I would lose the pin on my GPS.
The neighbor to this cabin (you can tell it’s a resident and not a rental) was outside. The way his house was laid out is he had two driveways — one went to his garage and the other was like a half driveway. The best way I can describe it is like a gravel driveway but it didn’t go all the way to his house. It went about halfway to his house.
I turned around in the half driveway. He got so angry when he saw this that he ran out into the middle of the road. Then, he went to my side window and began screaming and cursing. Next, he punched the window as hard as he could. Then, I floored it. As I was going he started coming after the vehicle and throwing rocks at it.
It was so scary. I had no cell phone service and our cabin was right next to this mans house. We never saw him again (thankfully), but we were uneasy during our stay because of him. There were woods separating our cabin from his house so we couldn’t see his house but still. I did a storytime on him on my tiktok account. Click here to watch that video.
Book it now!
Other than that man, this is a perfect cabin choice in Hocking Hills, Ohio. We never had to go by his house again. Everything we did and went to was in the other direction. If you do book it, don’t drive past it. Turn up the driveway with the sign at the bottom that says Wildcat Cottage. You can see the picture of the sign below.
